Megan Rapinoe
Megan Rapinoe is an American professional football player who plays as a winger. Megan, one of six siblings, grew up in Redding, California. At college, she was a star player but tore a ligament for the second time in 2007, which could have ended her career. Having come back from injury, she turned professional and was the second overall pick in the 2008 draft. She has played her club football in America - most notably in Seattle - Australia and France. She has also played well over 100 games for the USA women's national team, winning an Olympic gold medal and a World Cup. Rapinoe is a prominent LGBTQ rights' activist and was awarded the Board of Directors Award by the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center in, 2012, for raising awareness of LGBTQ people in sport.
