Paul Butterworth
A vicar's son and the youngest of four children I was brought up in Yorkshire where my mother schooled me in speech and drama. I then trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama from 1974 to 1977 and returned North where I worked extensively in film and TV featuring in dozens of TV shows and was awarded 'Best cast in a movie' in 1997 by SAG for Playing Barry in The Full Monty.
I play Michael Ellacott in the J.K.Rowling TV series Strike starring Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger, Michael is Holliday's (Robin Ellacott) dad.
I'm a BAFTA film voting member.
Outside of acting I am a dad with a grown up son, and am in my 3rd year of a part time BA (Hons) Painting course with the University for the Creative Arts - Open College of the Arts campus (the UCA's distance learning campus). I hope to graduate in 2023 and start an art practice alongside my acting.
